How FIFA Chef Gianni Infantino announced on Wednesday after a meeting of the FIFA Council, the tournament will take place in the Emirates at the beginning of 2022. Originally, the Club World Cup should take place in Japan in December. Due to the Corona pandemic, however, the country had canceled the discharge in September. Already the past edition of the competition had been laid on the original December date in February due to the pandemic, was played in Qatar. Winner became FC Bayern. Originally, the tournament format would have look different this year and the competition should take place with 24 teams in China. However, because of the Corona-related shift of the EM 2020 and the Copa America by one year, the tournament had been relocated and the plans for a reformed format had been suspended.
